Version 0.1 Timeline

By the time the handmade network site launches quire won't be ready for its first alpha release yet. I have most of the alpha functionality implemented (Including platform code for Linux and Windows!), but I want to do more API work before I put it out there for people to experiment with. I just think it would waste everyone's time to make it public just to break all the code two weeks later.

So at this point I'm not entirely sure when the 0.1 alpha will drop, but I'm hoping it will be before the end of May.

Please excuse my rudeness, but... In what way is Quire going to be superior to dear imgui?

The way I understand dear imgui it tries to be first and foremost a quick and easy gui for debug and other simple interfaces. quire can do that as well, but I want it to be well suited for general applications. That's why quire allows you to build your own UI elements relatively easily. Either starting from the default elements, customizing and combining them, or even starting new elements from scratch.

I don't think it will be "superior" to dear imgui, but it will be different and better suited for some use cases.

dear imgui is very well suited for general applications. Look at screenshot threads:

People have created various visualization tools, profilers, game level/object editors, audio applications, debugger, image recongnition software, emulators and much more.

Two handmade network projects also use it for their gui (as general applications):
